Prince Of Wales's Stakes (Group 1)
OMBUDSMAN was super impressive when winning this race 12 months ago (See The Fire back in third) and returns in good nick having won the Dubai Turf at Meydan and the Brigadier Gerard at Sandown this season. He is the highest-rated horse in the race and was a place ahead of Tattersalls Gold Cup winner Almaqam when runner-up to Calandagan in the Champion Stakes here last autumn. John & Thady Gosden's charge has never finished outside the first two, winning eight of his 11 career starts, and it's going to take a big performance to deny him another Royal Ascot success. French raider Daryz is the obvious threat because he beat Minnie Hauk in last year's Arc and has returned in good form this year, winning the Prix Ganay and Prix Aga Khan IV on home soil.

Prince of Wales’s Stakes Overview
The Prince of Wales’s Stakes is a flat race, run annually at Ascot Racecourse as part of Royal Ascot, on day two. It is a Group 1 race run over a distance of 1 mile, 1 furlong, and 212 yards.
First staged in 1862 and named after the Prince of Wales, later to be King Edward VII, this race, open to 3-year-olds (and later 4-year-olds and older) horses was temporarily halted in 1940 due to the outbreak of World War II. The lack of a ‘Prince of Wales’ title prevented the event from returning until 1968, the year before the investiture of Prince of Charles.
The race has been won by three horses twice: Connaught (1969 and 1970), Mtoto (1987 and 1988) and Muhtarram (1994 and 1995). The most successful jockey in the race’s history is Morny Cannon, who won it a record six times between 1895 and 1905.
