BLUE BOLT ended her 2025 campaign with a second in the Group 1 Sun Chariot at Newmarket in October and confirmed her well-being when taking a Listed race on her comeback at Goodwood. Andrew Balding's filly may have more improvement left to come and she sets the standard. Kon Tiki wasn't far behind her at Goodwood and should not be underestimated. Catalina Delcarpio put in a career best at Leopardstown last time and is another likely to go well, while Friendly Soul and Godspeed are others with claims.

Duke of Cambridge Stakes Overview

The Duke of Cambridge Stakes is a Group 2 flat race that is open to horses aged 4 years or older. It is run across a distance of 1 mile at Ascot Racecourse. The race is scheduled to take place as the third race on day two of Royal Ascot.

Originally named the Windsor Forest Stakes, this race was initially introduced, along with several other races, back in 2004 for older fillies. The aim was to encourage owners and trainers to enter these older horses and not prematurely retire them to stud.

It was officially renamed to the Duke of Cambridge Stakes in 2013 as a tribute to Prince William. The most successful jockey in the history of the race is William Buick who has three victories to his name including Joviality in 2012 and Saffron Beach in 2022.

The top trainer in this race is an accolade shared between Sir Michael Stoute and John Gosden. The pair share the title with 4 wins each in this race.
