We have five Premier League matches played out at the traditional 3pm kick-off this weekend. We’ve seen some strange results this season and we’ve also seen some big transfer moves over the last few days. Now, we’re pretty much halfway through the season there are plenty of teams that need to start to get going if they want to have a successful campaign.
With that in mind, here is what I like for my weekend Premier League accumulator tips for this Saturday in the 3pm GMT kick-offs.
ASTON VILLA vs Leicester (3pm GMT, Saturday)
We start with Aston Villa taking on Leicester. Aston Villa have reduced the damage of the last few months and now sit at a respectable 11th in the table. They come into this losing just 1 in the last 6 and winning 3 of the last 4 and at home this season they’ve won half of their matches.
They take on a Leicester team that looks in trouble this season. They’ve won 3 of their 10 matches away and despite scoring the goals, they have let in 23 goals in those 10 matches. Also, head-to-head shows they drew 0-0 back in April of last year, at the King Power Stadium, but Villa won the last match at Villa Park, 2-1.
I think Villa come through here. I can see both teams scoring in this win, looking at the fact Villa have scored 15 at home and Leicester have scored 23 away. I can see a similar score to the last time they met at Villa Park.
BRENTFORD vs Southampton (3pm GMT, Saturday)
Brentford come into this match sitting at 8th in the league and having not lost in their last 6 and winning 4 of those 6. They have a good home record this year and sit 6th in the “Home table” having lost just once at home this season. That loss was against Arsenal, whilst they’ve had draws against Chelsea and Spurs and have beaten the likes of Brighton and Liverpool.
Meanwhile, Southampton come into this with a poor away record of just 3 wins. More importantly, though, they’ve scored just 8 goals away in 10 matches. That doesn’t bode well when you’re playing a team that has scored 20 in the same amount of games. Brentford has to be the pick.
BRIGHTON vs Bournemouth (3pm GMT, Saturday)
Brighton have been one of the Premier Leagues surprises this season. They’ve found themselves sitting pretty at 6th in the league, 5 points behind Spurs but with 2 games in-hand. They have to see this as a must-win match for them if they want to keep progressing and end up in and around the European qualification places.
They’re playing a team in Bournemouth that sits 2nd bottom of the league and has won just once away this season. They’ve let in 31 goals this season just away, in 10 matches. They’ve also only scored 9 away from home and have lost the last 3 “to nil” which means Brighton has to be the pick.
MAN UNITED vs Crystal Palace (3pm GMT, Saturday)
Man United come into this match absolutely flying. They’ve completely turned their form around and now sit 4th in the league. They have solid home form with just one match lost this season. They’ve also let in just 5 goals in 9 matches, at home. That, along with Newcastle, is the best defence at home this season.
Whereas, Palace have been “middle of the road” this season. They sit 11th in the away league, having won 2 from 9 but much like other teams in this preview, they lack goals. Just 7 goals scored away, in 9 matches.
Palace haven’t won now in 4 matches and despite Man United letting in a lot of goals away from home, their Home form remains solid. That is enough for me to stick them in this accy as a solid pick.
