Two Tribes looks sure to make a bold bid in order to claim another top sprinting prize this season. He is a best priced 12/1 according to the latest Ayr Gold Cup betting odds. Trained by Richard Spencer, the four-year-old has been brilliantly campaigned by his trainer. He is once again partnered by David Egan who has ridden him to success twice in the past.
He has plenty of experience in these big field handicaps and notched up wins over this trip at Royal Ascot & Glorious Goodwood. Further reasoning for him being the main Ayr Gold Cup tip is laid out below.
Ayr Gold Cup Tips – Main Selection
Two Tribes – Richard Spencer & David Egan
Despite carrying top-weight, Two Tribes loves these big field handicaps. He won the International Handicap at Ascot and then followed it up with a victory in the Stewards Cup at Glorious Goodwood. He was beaten only a smattering of heads and necks last time out at York when Ryan Moore was in the saddle (although he has never ridden him to victory before).
David Egan has won twice on him before and the four-year old is clearly in the form of his life. With so many rivals being out of form, his class could well see him home. He acts on this type of ground and he looks a massive player here.
Ayr Gold Cup Betting Tips – Danger Pick
Hammer The Hammer – Kevin Ryan & Tom Eaves
Hammer The Hammer ran too bad to be true when last seen out in the Stewards Cup and if he can get over that bizarre run, he has to be seen as a lethal threat to the selection. Kevin Ryan has a fantastic record in this race and has won it five times in the last two decades.
Prior to that last run he had shown encouraging form by winning twice at Southwell before winning a fair handicap at Chester. He was runner-up in a good handicap at Royal Ascot, so confidence going into Goodwood.
Ayr Gold Cup Betting Tips – Each Way Selection
Fahrenheit Seven – Robert Cowell & Marco Ghiani
My main selection for this race is Fahrenheit Seven. He is a versatile character and seems to act on any type of surface. He has a knack of being in the right place at the right time and has won at five different tracks across the country. He has as a comfortable on a straight track as he is on a turning one and that is an invaluable asset to have in your repertoire.
He looks to be nicely drawn in stall 11 and he is proven on this type of surface. This is his first run for Robert Cowell having left Mark Usher and no surprise to see him feature prominently despite a three month break.
Ayr Gold Betting Odds – Ones to Watch
Alfa Kellenic – Ivan Furtado & Silvestre De Sousa
A dual course and distance winner (unbeaten on this track) who won the Silver Cup here last year. He was highly progressive last season and it remains of interest to see whether he has trained on. He has been off the track for almost a year, but he ready to rock at the first time of asking last season and if not needing much work to get ready, he could well make his presence felt again.
Desert Falcon – Julie Camacho & Rowan Scott
Better known for winning over seven furlongs, this in form gelding showed his versatility by winning over six furlongs as recently as last Monday. He has clearly come out of that race in good form and comes here with every chance. He certainly knows where the winning post is having won six races from just eighteen starts. It is far from impossible to see him swooping late to capture this prize.
Aramram – Richard Hannon & Sean Levey
He was a fine runner up to Alfa Kellenic in the Silver Cup at this track last year. The four-year old isn’t as comfortable in winning as some of his rivals here, but he does always seem to put in a good effort. Although he has been racing on the all-weather tracks of late, he is often seen to better effect on the turf. He looked as though he was coming back into form in that race behind Drama at Kempton last time and he could well cause a headache for his rivals.
Commanche Falls – Michael Dods & Connor Beasley
This eight-year old seems to have been around for an eternity and he is now looking extremely well handicapped on the best of his old form. Rated as high as 112 in his pomp, he has now dropped back to a mark of 98. He has a dozen career wins to his name, including one over this course and distance. Although well beaten by Desert Falcon at Doncaster last Monday, it would be of no great surprise to see him make the frame.
