13:58 Ayr – Destiny Is All (4/1)
This eight-year-old is set to make his seasonal reappearance at a track that he loves. The multiple course winner has plenty of experience around here and has even proven himself over almost a mile further in the past. He appreciates a bit of give in the ground and has gone well on the back of similar breaks in the past.
Also, he has started as favourite in each of his four previous races and winning the last two. Stephen Mulqueen has already partnered ten winners for Lucinda Russell this season and Destiny Is All has only been raised two pounds by the handicapper for that previous win. A lot to like about his chances here and a must for any shortlist.
14:33 Ayr – Wakool (4/1)
Despite a career-high mark of 133, Wakool is the only one of this field to have won on the good to soft ground on multiple occasions. The Nick Alexander trained six-year-old has a history of running well fresh and won first time out at Musselburgh last season.
The three-mile trip seems to be perfect for him as he disappointed when tried over further last year, although the ground may have been a little against him too. Conor O’Farrell gets on will with the grey and as the only course and distance winners in the line-up they are taken to go very close here.
15:58 Newmarket – Dream Of Love (3/1)
She was good enough to make a winning debut over this course and distance a little over three weeks ago and did so with a minimum of fuss. Always ridden handily by Will Buick, the daughter of Shamardal took over inside the final furlong to just get the better of Hey Lila and Mubhijah.
The Godolphin team won back-to-back renewals of this race in 2016 and 2017 and Charlie Appleby returns to try and regain the prize with this progressive looking filly. She will have learned plenty for that last run and can enhance her 1000 Guineas claims with a solid performance here.
17:08 Newmarket – Astral Beau (13/2)
Pam Sly has kept Astral Beau in excellent physical shape all year and the multiple course and distance winner ought to have no issues with these underfoot conditions. She is still only lightly raced and it is possible that the handicapper has as yet to fully get to the bottom of her.
Her form from her last race is working out particularly well with Yanifer who beat her coming out to win again. The horse who finished eighteenth in that race, Muntadab, has also come out and won. She does have an extra four pounds to carry here, but she may well be capable of defying that penalty.
