Yorkshire vs Derbyshire Betting: Derbyshire are good value to take advantage of Yorkshire's batting woes
Monday’s live CB40 action comes from Headingley Carnegie as Yorkshire take on Derbyshire in a Group A clash over the 40 over distance. Yorkshire began their campaign miserably last week losing at home to the Netherlands in a match they were widely expected to win. Derbyshire also began scratchy losing to the same opponents but they did pick up a win over Sussex on Sunday to boost their confidence come into this match.
Yorkshire have had a mixed start to the season. All was going well until they failed to chase 140 in the Championship against Nottinghamshire being bowled out for just 86. They followed that up with their defeat to the Netherlands and the concerns that they were a batsman light this season came to the fore in a big way. Ajmal Shahzad and Ryan Sidebottom, both England players in the last 12 months are in Yorkshire’s squad here.
Derbyshire are likely to be unchanged unless Yorkshire have a clause in Azeem Rafiq’s loan contract that says he can’t play against them. If he isn’t allowed to play then Derbyshire could look to bring in an extra seamer on a wicket which is traditionally good for seamers. Usman Khawaja made his one day debut for the Falcons on Sunday and he’s set to play here too.
Yorkshire’s batting line up has to be a concern to those at Headingley and Derbyshire have the potential to be competitive here. They are a niggly side who should be beaten but they hang in there and hang in and then sneak to getting the job done. With the ball Yorkshire are head and shoulders the better side here but if they don’t put up the runs then Derbyshire will never be out of the game. At the prices it’s worth siding with Derby that the Yorkshire batting line up fails to show up.
