twenty20 World Cup Betting Guide
The ICC World Twenty20, sometimes referred to as the T20 World Cup, is a tournament held bi-annually in all the even years. In 2010 the tournament was held in the Caribbean and England won the final by beating Australia by seven wickets in Barbados. Sri Lanka will host the 2012 version of the competition with Bangladesh playing the hosts in 2014.
Twelve teams compete for this title. The 10 test playing nations are joined by two associate nations who qualify through the qualifying tournament to take their place among the elite. In 2010, Afghanistan made their debuts on the world stage and impressed despite being defeated. The twelve sides are split into 4 groups of three which are seeded on the performance of the sides in the previous competition. For example in 2012, having won the event in 2010, England will be seeded 1. The top two go through to the super eights which put together two groups of four with the top two from those groups going into the semi finals and final.
Although there are more groups, this tournament is thought to be a much better format. Being on 20 over matches, the event lasts no more than 2 weeks which is ideal for all concerned. Often there are two matches played per day which keeps punter’s interests high. Matches are often played at the same ground on the same day so a lot of the time a punter can watch the opening game and see how conditions are before betting on the second match of the day so this is a popular tournament to bet on.
