Tottenham vs Stevenage Betting: Home comforts can see Spurs can cruise into the quarter finals
A goal couldn’t be found when Stevenage hosted Tottenham at Broadhall Way in the original FA Cup 5th round tie but at some point when the two meet in their replay at White Hart Lane on Wednesday night, a goal of some kind must be scored. With a home tie against Bolton at stake in the quarter finals both sides will see winning this match as a chance of getting to Wembley.
Given that they are the Premier League side it comes as no surprise that Spurs are the 1/5 favourites for this match with Ladbrokes. It’s even less of a surprise when Harry Redknapp says he expects Gareth Bale to be fit to play. Scott Parker returns from suspension and is set to feature as is William Gallas who has been out for a while. Rafael van der Vaart is unlikely to be risked with Tottenham having a big Premier League game at Everton on Saturday.
Stevenage’s form has dipped markedly either side of the original tie with Tottenham. That’s to be expected in a way, especially ahead of this match where their players will get the opportunity to play at a ground like White Hart Lane which they wouldn’t get every day. Jordan Slew will be ineligible for the Hertfordshire side who may need something special from Chris Beardsley up front. Chris Day will fulfil his dream to play against Spurs at White Hart Lane in between the sticks.
Stevenage are sure to be game opponents but on a good pitch at White Hart Lane I think Spurs will just have too much quality for them and I would expect the London club to ease into the quarter finals. With both Manchester clubs and Arsenal out of the competition it is wide open to be won and I don’t expect Spurs to let this opportunity slip away.
