Stevenage vs Tottenham Betting: Spurs likely to have way too much for plucky Stevenage
The second game of the triple header of live FA Cup action on Sunday comes from Broadhall Way in Stevenage as the League One side take on Premier League high flyers Tottenham in a match which will have everyone thinking back to the 90’s when Stevenage, a Conference side then, hosted Newcastle and took them to a replay. Stevenage are 9/2 with Betfred to force this tie into a replay.
The home side come into the match sitting in the playoffs in their first season at League One level despite many people expecting them to struggle before a ball was kicked this season. Borough began their season with Graham Westley in charge but he has recently left to take over at Preston and Gary Smith now leads the side forward and has the task of trying to break through this quality Spurs side.
Tottenham are pushing hard for the title and a Champions League place but Harry Redknapp indicated in his press conference on Friday that this competition is very much a priority for his side and that leads me to believe he will name a strong side here. He will be without Rafael van der Vaart and Younes Kaboul is unlikely to make it but other than that I expect a side similar to the one which destroyed Newcastle at White Hart Lane last season.
I fully expect Spurs to have too much for Stevenage here. Stevenage beat Newcastle last season but this Spurs side are playing terrific football at the minute and are hugely motivated. Spurs have a lot of pace and power in their side though and it won’t be easy for a League One side to defend against that. I expect Stevenage to be game and to fight hard but I think Spurs can control this match from beginning to end.
