South Africa vs Pakistan ODI Series Betting: Pakistan look the value in potentially tight series
After thrashing South Africa in the only T20 match which was possible in the two match series last weekend, Pakistan go into their five match ODI series against the same opposition which begins on Sunday full of confidence and belief. South Africa rested a lot of their stars for that match but they return for this series so the series should be a cracker. South Africa go into the series as the 2/5 favourites to win it with Skybet.
South Africa go into this series off the back of a surprising series defeat at home to New Zealand earlier in the year although they will offer the excuse that injuries hurt them badly in that mini series. They have named the likes of Hashim Amla, Graeme Smith, Dale Steyn and Morne Morkel in their squad for this series and their coach Gary Kirsten has said they won’t experiment in this series as they are preparing for the upcoming Champions Trophy.
Pakistan will go into this series with their tails up and they have a bowling attack which can win any series against any side anywhere in the world. The likes of Shahid Afridi, Umar Gul and Saeed Ajmal will be hard to get away. Misbah Ul-Haq regains the captaincy in this series for Pakistan. Pakistan go into this series off the back of beating India in an ODI series over Christmas which should give them further confidence.
This has the makings of being a really high quality ODI series. It may be a low scoring one because there’s no doubt both sides have their strength in their bowling attacks. If Pakistan can find a way of putting consistent runs on the board then I think they have every chance in this series because they have a number of matchwinners with the ball who are hard to keep out let alone score off. This series looks a lot closer on paper than the odds suggest so I’ll take Pakistan as a value pick.
