Simon vs Fognini Betting: The in-form Frenchman should be able to capture the title after a tiring battle

Three important finals are on the schedule today and we are actually going to be interested in all of them. Our pre-tournament favourite, Maria Sharapova, is going to play against Victoria Azarenka in Stuttgart and that is indeed what I was worried about at the beginning of that event. Nevertheless, the Russian can somehow manage to win that one and careful punters can still hedge the outright for a decent profit (Azarenka can be backed at 1.42 with Pinnacle at the moment).

The last final that we have not talked about yet is the one that is going to take place in Bucharest. Gilles Simon has managed to find his way through to the final match without any real difficulties and he certainly deserves to be rated as a decent favourite in his encounter with Fabio Fognini as well. After all, he leads the H2H record 3-0 and that includes some truly straightforward affairs.

However, Fabio Fognini has been playing superb tennis in Bucharest so far, beating the likes of Andreas Seppi and Marcos Baghdatis. Those are very valuable scalps and the scorelines from his matches suggest that he has finally managed to fix some of his problems with consistency. And consistency is indeed going to play a major role in this match-up, since it is impossible to beat the Frenchman without hitting a few decent shots from the baseline.

Yep, Simon might be the world's number twelve and it is hard to see him failing. However, the total games line does look a bit low here and I think that Fognini will be able to take the match to the distance. Lukasz Kubot managed to do just that on Friday and Bachinger was not that far away from doing that either on Saturday - so why shouldn't Fognini be able to do that today?
