Premier League Darts Betting: Phil Taylor 2/1 to win the tournament after his first loss in Nottingham
Phil Taylor is now the 2/1 favourite to win the Premier League darts tournament after suffering his first defeat of the season in Nottingham on Thursday night. Taylor lost 7-5 to Gary Anderson on what was a night of surprise results and now finds himself third in the league table but he’ll still feature on finals night barring something very bizarre. Skybet are the firm offering 2/1 on the world champion.
Michael van Gerwen was another player who surprisingly lost on Thursday night although to be fair Adrian Lewis was always going to show up at some point in this competition and the Dutchman was unlucky it was against him. Michael van Gerwen is now fourth in the table but despite that he is the 12/5 second favourite to win the Premier League at the first attempt with Blue Square.
Raymond Barneveld avoided the carnage of upsets on week five of the competition and his win over Andy Hamilton saw him move to the top of the league table with nine weeks left of the weekly rounds. He came past Hamilton 7-5 to lead the table by a point and he is now a third favourite to win the tournament outright at 11/2 with Boylesports.
James Wade opened the night with a very impressive performance. His performance was easily the best of the night as he came past Robert Thornton 7-1. That was Thornton’s first defeat in the tournament but he didn’t do a lot wrong other than run into an express train. The win took Wade into second place in the table and left Thornton in fifth place. Wade is now 10/1 with BetVictor to win the title for a second time while Thornton is a 25/1 shot with Paddy Power despite a first defeat of the season.
