Painter vs Wade Betting: Kevin Painter has to be backed here based on form in the tournament so far
The Westpoint Arena in Exeter is the next stop for the McCoys Premier League darts roadshow and the opening match in week four of the tournament on Thursday night sees Kevin Painter taking on James Wade over the best of fourteen legs. Painter comes into the week in third place in the table while James Wade is bottom of the pile and in need of a win urgently. Wade is the evens favourite with Blue Square.
Kevin Painter has begun his debut season in the Premier League really well. Surprisingly well almost it would have to be said. He won a scrappy game on the opening night against Gary Anderson and having challenged Taylor in week two he then thrashed Simon Whitlock last week so heads to Exeter with his confidence high and his belief strong and I think the belief is half the battle for Painter. If he believes he can win he’s a dangerous player.
James Wade hasn’t played as badly as his results would suggest in this tournament so far but this tournament more than any other is a results business and his results haven’t been good. A defeat this week and he’s chasing the rest of the field even this early in the tournament. Wade needs to brush up on his double hitting for this match as he’s actually scored really well in the tournament so far.
I think it’s fair to say this one has been priced up on reputation rather than form because Painter has played a lot better than Wade so far not just got better results. Painter’s finishing has been something to behold and he’s never been too shabby as a scorer. The two facets combined are making him tough to beat. Even Taylor needed a 9 dart finish and his very best to beat him. Wade is good enough to win this but the value in the match likes with the Artist.
