Next Liverpool Manager Betting: Andre Villas-Boas into 11/4 favourite to succeed King Kenny at Anfield
The worst kept secret of the week in the football world was confirmed on Wednesday afternoon when the Fenway Sports Group, owners of Liverpool, announced that Kenny Dalglish had been removed from his position as manager and after a sustained period of money on Wednesday evening former Chelsea manager Andre Villas-Boas is the 11/4 favourite with Skybet to take over from the departing Scot.
It wasn’t too long ago that Villas-Boas was deemed not good enough for Chelsea but the Liverpool owners are believed to be looking for someone young and who is a household name to take them forward and Villas-Boas meets both those criteria. He has had success in Europe which would be a big thing for the American owners. Villas-Boas’ success came when he won the Europa League with Porto in 2011.
Roberto Martinez seems to be a wanted man these days and he is the 3/1 second favourite for the job with Bet365. Dave Whelan, Wigan’s owner and Martinez’s current boss has claimed there has been no approach from the Liverpool owners for his manager but it is the sort of club Whelan would release Martinez to go to so it makes sense for him to be high up in the market.
Brendan Rodgers is someone who has been talked up for the job he has done at Swansea over the last couple of seasons and he is the 7/1 third favourite for the job with Stan James. He too fits the young and up and coming criteria which seems to be the way Liverpool are going for their next manager and it appears just a matter of time before Rodgers goes on to bigger and better things. Whether that is this job remains to be seen but if the market is right it is between those three young managers.
