New Orleans @ Tampa Bay Betting: Confident Saints can pile more misery on Tampa Bay
The second all NFC South battle of the day comes from Tampa Bay as the Buccaneers welcome the New Orleans Saints to the Raymond James Stadium. This is a key divisional match with New Orleans currently 4-1 and on a winning streak of four matches while Tampa Bay come in 3-2 and needing to bounce back fast from their pummelling in San Francisco last week, ahead of a trip to London next week to play in the Wembley game.
Tampa Bay were completely blown away last week. They were blown away on the ground and in the air which will be worrying for them. LaGarrette Blount and Gerald McCoy both left the game early last week which didn’t help them and what’s worse is they could be missing for this match too. Earnest Graham would take most of the carries if Blount does miss out but McCoy could be the bigger loss after San Francisco burnt them on the ground last week.
New Orleans have had a couple of hard fought wins in their recent matches but that has battle hardened them for this match. Given how Tampa Bay were against the run last week Darren Sproles, Mark Ingram and Pierre Thomas could be key men this week even in a predominantly pass first offence. Drew Brees is looking to become the first Quarterback in NFL history to throw for a minimum of 350 yards in four successive weeks.
I’m sure Tampa Bay will respond this week but I still don’t expect them to win. The Saints aren’t pulling up any trees at the minute but Sean Payton’s men are winning matches and with Tampa’s defence 20th against the pass I expect Brees to lead the New Orleans offence up the field regularly. I don’t expect another 48-3 type blowout here but I do expect the Saints to cover the 4pt handicap they are handing Tampa Bay.
Back New Orleans (-4) to beat Tampa Bay for a 4/10 stake at 1.83 with Coral
