Napoli vs Chelsea Betting: Italian side can increase the mounting pressure on AVB
When Chelsea drew Napoli in the Champions League last 16 they immediately knew they had the rough end of the draw and they will face that reality on Tuesday night when they travel to the Stadio San Paolo for the first leg of the tie. Napoli have already seen off English competition in the Champions League at this ground this season when they beat Manchester City and they are 7/5 with Paddy Power to win this one.
Napoli boss Walter Mazzari will be absent from both the touchline and the dressing room for this match and the second leg at Stamford Bridge after an altercation with Nilmar of Villareal in Napoli’s last group match. Hugo Campagnaro is a major doubt in defence for the Italians who have plenty of attacking threats to worry Chelsea. They are led by Edinson Cavani who has four goals in the competition this season.
Chelsea come into the match with the pressure really starting to mount on their manager Andres Villas-Boas. He could be without John Terry for this match after the Chelsea skipper continues to struggle with an injury. Ashley Cole is another struggling for fitness with injury so Chelsea could be hit hard in defence. One man AVB might be glad to see again is Didier Drogba, who is set to return having missed the last month or so on African Nations Cup duty.
I think this will be a really tough match for Chelsea. The atmosphere at this ground is pretty hostile and the home side perform well in the environment. I thought Napoli were decent value for their win over Manchester City in the group stages and with Chelsea looking light at the back I think Napoli will win this one too. Chelsea’s form continues to be below the expected level and Napoli can really crank up the pressure on AVB with a win here.
Back Napoli to beat Chelsea for a 4/10 stake at 2.40 with Paddy Power
