Lewis vs van Gerwen Betting: Expect to see a few 180's between these two heavy scorers
Adrian Lewis and Michael van Gerwen produced a thrilling match when they met in the quarter finals of the World Championship back in December and the fans with a ticket to their match in the Premier League at the Capital FM Arena in Notitngham on Thursday night will hope they can reproduce that drama. Lewis had two darts to beat van Gerwen in that match but has been in awful form since which is why MVG is a 4/9 favourite with Skybet.
Adrian Lewis has lost all four matches in the competition so far. His performance against Wes Newton in defeat last week was horrendous. There’s no doubting it meant something to Lewis but the more he tried the worse he got and it may just be that he frees up in a match where he’s seemingly got no chance in and where he is going to be outscored for the most part.
Michael van Gerwen is in wonderful form at the minute and he will feel he is unbeatable having not been beaten in 20 matches since he lost to Phil Taylor in the final of the World Championship. IN the last two weeks van Gerwen has looked at home in thrashing Raymond Barneveld and Andy Hamilton and a win here would really send out all sorts of markers. MVG is scoring well and as yet hasn’t had too many mares on the doubles.
I would expect Michael van Gerwen to win this match but he’s a bit too short for my liking so the better bet would appear to be the over 6.5 180’s. These two are serial 180 hitters and even in the bad times Adrian Lewis has still been delivering 180’s. MVG will pepper the red but as well so I expect to see plenty of 180’s and enough to see this line covered.
