Lewis vs Anderson Betting: Adrian Lewis can continue his fine form with win over defending champion
The final match of week 12 in the McCoys Premier League darts from the Echo Arena in Liverpool is a repeat of last year’s final as Gary Anderson takes on Adrian Lewis in a must win match for the Scot. Anything but a win in this match and the defence of his title is all but over as he won’t be able to claim a semi final spot. Lewis broke into the top four last week and needs to keep winning to stay there.
Lewis comes into this match as the 8/13 favourite with Boylesports and that is no surprise after the world champion finally ended Phil Taylor’s unbeaten run in the tournament last week when he came from 5-4 down to beat him 8-5. That was a win which pushed Lewis into fourth place in the table and a win in this match will see him needing just three more points from the final two weeks to secure a semi final berth.
Gary Anderson has been awful in this tournament and only has a solitary draw from his last seven matches. It is well known he has lost his father in that time and that can’t be helping him but the Scot looks a pale shadow of the man who won this title so convincingly last season, understandably so perhaps. Anderson’s scoring has been quite weak, certainly in terms of hitting 180’s and if he isn’t scoring well he’s in trouble.
I think Adrian Lewis is a good thing in this match. He is scoring well and he’s taking out most of his doubles too and the fact he throws first in this match can’t be overlooked either. By throwing first if he holds throw he’ll always be ahead of Anderson and it isn’t easy to keep chasing a man in form when you aren’t completely happy with your own game. Lewis can raise his game to crazy levels and I think he wins this and wins it well.
