Kansas City @ New England Betting: Patriots can go 2 clear in AFC East with big win against Kansas City
The Monday Night Football this week comes from Gillette Stadium in Foxboro as the New England Patriots welcome the Kansas City Chiefs to their home ground for an important all AFC battle. Results in round 11 already mean that were New England to win this match they would take a 2 game lead in the division which would be a significant lead with just six matches remaining. Kansas City have fallen two behind so need a win here.
New England’s offense has been the reason they are where they are this season. Tom Brady started the season with some outrageously good numbers and the signs have been over the last couple of weeks that he is clicking back into gear again with our pre-season receiving pick Wes Welker still the leading receiver in the league. Rob Gronkowski is a catching machine at Tight End too. Bill Belichick has released Albert Haynesworth from the defence but it hasn’t stopped them winning.
Kansas City were dealt a blow leading into this game as their Quarterback, the ex-Patriot Matt Cassel has been ruled out with a ‘significant hand injury’ as described by Chiefs head coach Todd Haley. Unknown Tyler Palko will be given the start in Cassel’s absence and he will be charged with re-firing a stuttering offense in which main receiver Dwayne Bowe hasn’t found the end zone in four games.
Patriots have a lot of injuries defensively which will keep Kansas interested in this match but there will be a lot of pressure on their inexperienced Quarterback. Kansas City are 14th on pass defense this season and they will need to pile the pressure on Tom Brady to stay close here. Kansas City have lost their last two matches 31-3 to Miami and then 17-10 to Denver which is worrying given that this New England offense is so much better than those two offenses. I don’t expect this to be very close and fully expect New England to win this by a lot more than the 14.5pts they are required to win by with bookmakers.
