Hopkins vs Cloud Betting: Bernard Hopkins can make history by outpointing Tavoris Cloud
All eyes will be on the Barclays Center in Brooklyn on Saturday night as Bernard Hopkins looks to make history once again when he fights the undefeated American Tavoris Cloud for the IBF light-heavyweight title. Hopkins goes into the ring as a 48 year old looking to win another world title but Cloud will fancy the job here. Cloud goes into the fight as a 4/6 favourite to retain his title with Boylesports.
Bernard Hopkins goes into this fight off the back of a defeat to Chad Dawson last time out and he’ll be looking to avenge that although in all honesty that defeat had been coming for a while. This will be the 61st fight of Hopkins’ long and illustrious career and if he can beat someone 17 years his junior to win the world title it would be a truly great story. Hopkins hasn’t stopped anyone since beating Oscar de la Hoya in 2004.
Tavoris Cloud is a knockout machine at the minute. He is unbeaten in 24 fights and 19 of those wins have come inside the distance but whether he has the speed, quality and nous to knock Hopkins out is another story. Cloud comes into this fight off the back of a tough night against Gabriel Campillo last time out gaining a split decision which could easily have gone the other way.
This is an intriguing fight. Hopkins is getting no younger but he’s up for this fight. If anything Tavoris Cloud is giving off a bit too much confidence going into this fight and if he gets cocky or complacent he could come a cropper. I expect the fight to go the distance but throughout his career Hopkins has been a master of finding a way to win and I think at 2/1 to win by decision there’s value for the fairytale story to come true.
