World Cup of Darts Betting Guide

The World Cup of Darts is the newest televised event to darts having been held for the first time in 2010. 24 nations compete for the coveted title of world cup champions with the top two players per country in the world rankings chosen to represent their country in the tournament which is made up for a mixture of singles and pairs matches.

The 2010 version of this event was played over one weekend in December. The venue for that event was the Rainton Meadows Arena in Sunderland however with Spain going so well in the inaugural tournament there is talk of this tournament being taken around the globe. The Cash Converters sponsored event is covered in full by Sky.

The usual betting markets are on show in this tournament but with a lot of the tournament being doubles play the likelihood of 180’s and high checkouts aren’t as big as in singles tournaments such as the world matchplay or the world championship. Matches in this event are a fairly short format too but as we saw in 2010 it opens itself up to lots of surprise results.

Holland won the inaugural tournament at the beginning of December, 2010. Raymond Barneveld and Co Stompe lead Holland to victory over Wales in the final with the title being decided in the final doubles rubber of the tournament. The Dutch however failed to retain the cup with the formidable pairing of PDC World Champion Adrian Lewis and 15 time World Champion Phil Taylor taking the 2012 title for England at the Alsterdorfer Sporthalle in Hamburg in February.
