Denmark vs Portugal Betting: Portugal's must win situation can play into Denmark's hands in Lviv
Group B of Euro 2012 resumes on Wednesday with the first match of the night coming from Lviv and featuring Denmark and Portugal. These two are familiar foes having been in the same qualifying group for both World Cup 2010 and this tournament. The Danes finished above Portugal on both occasions so the Portuguese will be looking to show Denmark that means nothing in the tournament itself. They are the Even money favourites with Coral to win this match.
Denmark come into the match in a good position having won their opening match in the group. I’m sure they will be the first to admit they rode their luck in their 1-0 win over Holland but having nicked an early goal they defended stoutly and got the result they needed. Despite winning the match, the Danes could make a change to their side with Michael Silberauer replacing Simon Poulsen and possibly being given the man marking job on Ronaldo that he fulfilled in qualifying.
Portugal come into this match knowing that if they lose they are out of the tournament having gone down 1-0 to Germany in their opening match in the tournament. Cristiano Ronaldo wasn’t able to influence that match as much as he would have liked so the whole of Portugal will be hoping he fares better in this match. Ricardo Quaresma has recovered from a leg injury and could start while Helder Postiga could be replaced up front, possibly by the fit again Hugo Almeida.
I think Denmark are worth chancing in some way in this match. I really don’t think Portugal are all that, or certainly as good as the hype they carry around with them and now that they have to go out and win this match they could be a bit more open and the likes of Rommedahl, Bendtner and Krohn-Dehli could well profit from that. Denmark look defensively sound to me and seem to have a bit of an Indian sign over the Portuguese at the minute. I think they are worth going with on the +0.5 Asian handicap meaning we win even if they only draw.
