CIMB Asia Pacific Classic Betting: Familiar conditions can see to Jaidee beating Dufner in opening round
With the CIMB Asia Pacific Classic having a shorter field than usual on the PGA Tour, the players will be out in two balls for all the rounds beginning with the opening round on Thursday. That is a big help for punters wishing to get involved in betting on the tournament. With the fairly decent field which has been assembled as well there are some decent pairings to have a look at both for the fans in Malaysia and punters alike.
Among the better pairings in the opening round are the Angel Cabrera and Ricky Barnes group as well as Rory Sabbatini and Stewart Cink. Our tournament pick Ryan Moore is out with Stuart Appleby while the pre-tournament favourite and defending champion Ben Crane is out with Jerry Kelly. Asian star Jeev Milkha Singh will get a good following in his pairing with Jonathan Byrd. The first group tees off at 1.00am UK time with the final group heading off at 4.50am.
I’m going to look at a group containing another Asian star in Thongchai Jaidee. Jaidee takes on the USPGA runner up Jason Dufner with the pair teeing off at 4.00am UK time. Jaidee played at the Castello Masters in Spain last week and went very well for three rounds before finding the pace of Sergio Garcia too much to keep up with in the final round and falling away to finish in a tie for 20th. I don’t mind that though because I thought those not playing with Garcia on Sunday had an advantage but at least we know Jaidee is playing well.
Jason Dufner has had an excellent year on the PGA Tour in terms of top 10 finishes where he has had 6 of them in total including that USPGA second place. Amazingly that second place came in the middle of 7 missed cuts either side of the Atlanta event. Since those missed cuts he’s put in a couple of respectable performances in the FedExCup playoffs but he’ll be in conditions which won’t be completely comfortable to him this week. Jaidee was brought up in Asian conditions and we know he is playing well and I think he’s worth taking in this opening two ball.
Back T.Jaidee to beat J.Dufner for a 4/10 stake at 2.38 with Stan James
