Chile vs Peru Betting: Top spot in Group C can be Chile's in Mendoza
The final set of matches in Group C of the Copa America are being played on Tuesday night and the first of them sees group leaders Chile taking on Peru in Mendoza in a match which the winners will be crowned group winners. Both sides have a win and a draw in their two matches against Uruguay and Mexico so far so both will be fairly confident going into this match. The losers could still go through if Uruguay draw against Mexico or if 4pts is enough to be a best third placed spot which it will be if Argentina beat Costa Rica on Monday night.
Chile have looked one of the better sides in the tournament up to now and in Alexis Sanchez they have a player who has lit the event up. He has certainly shown he represents his supposed price tag a lot more than the likes of Neymar have in this competition so far. He along with Jean Beausejour and Humberto Suazo will look to terrorise this Peruvian defence.
Peru have the tournament’s joint top goalscorer in their side in Hamburg striker Paolo Guerrero. He could easily have had a couple more too having missed good chances in both matches so far. This Peruvian side will be out to show that they don’t need Claudio Pizarro and Jefferson Farfan to be successful and were they to win this match it would be a significant achievement.
As good and as attractive as Peru have been in this tournament so far I think Chile will have too much for them. I like what I’ve seen from Chile in this tournament to date and I think they have more reliable goal threats in their side. I’m coming round to the idea that Chile could actually win this whole tournament and I certainly think they can win this. I thought they would have been a lot shorter than the 3/4 quotes which have been chalked up and at that price I’m quite happy to be on the Chileans.
Back Chile to beat Peru for a 5/10 stake at 1.75 with Stan James
