Championship League Snooker Group 3 Betting: Martin Gould value to Masters hangover sufferers
The Championship League snooker continues on Monday as the 3rd group begins at the Crondon Park golf club in Essex. Once again seven of the world’s top players will be competing with the aim of making it through to the lucrative winners group. Over the two days of action, where all of the matches are streamed on bookmaker sites like Bet365, everyone will play everyone and then the top four moves into the semi finals.
Mark Selby lost in the final of Group 2 a couple of weeks ago so he takes his place in Group 3 this week. He is joined by the other losers from group 2 in the form of Mark Davis, Matthew Stevens and Neil Robertson. Those four are joined by the new entries into the competition who are Martin Gould, Stephen Hendry and Jamie Cope.
Mark Selby comes into the group as the favourite and that is no surprise but he’s a little bit short for my liking particularly on his Masters form last week. In fact I’m loathe to take anyone who went deep in the Masters last week because of the time away from home required. As I type Neil Robertson is set to win the Masters so to be playing a Championship league group hours afterwards doesn’t seem like the way I’d be celebrating.
Stephen Hendry could go well in a tournament like this where there isn’t a huge amount of pressure. He played some good stuff in the last PTC event where he made the semi final but one man who is in even better form than him is Martin Gould and he’s my pick for this competition. He played well going into the Masters where he missed a few balls against the eventual finalist Shaun Murphy but in a tournament like this with little pressure on I think he can knock in a few big breaks and go well. He’s the value call against the main two who could be suffering Masters hangovers.
