Champions League Betting: Real Madrid continue to shorten after thumping Dinamo Zagreb
With one matchday remaining in the group phase of the Champions League, Barcelona remain the 7/4 favourites to retain their title with Betfred as well as one or two others. They faced the toughest match of their campaign so far on Wednesday night when they travelled to the San Siro to take on Italian giants AC Milan and they came away with a 3-2 victory courtesy of a Lionel Messi double and a Xavi strike which has seen them win their group.
Real Madrid are the second favourites for the tournament now with Coral the only firm brave enough to offer a standout 7/2 about the Spanish giants. Madrid made the most of their final home match in the groups on Tuesday night when they thrashed Dinamo Zagreb 6-2 with Karim Benzema getting himself a brace as well as the likes of Gonzalo Higuain also on the scoresheet.
Bayern Munich’s Allianz Arena will host the final of the tournament this season and they moved safely into the last 16 as group winners with victory over Villareal on Tuesday night. It means they will avoid the likes of Barcelona, Real Madrid and Arsenal in the last 16 as they aim to make it to their own showpiece. Bayern’s 3-1 win on Tuesday has seen them into a top priced 7/1 with Ladbrokes as well as one or two others.
It was a disastrous week for the English clubs with only Arsenal of the four sides coming out of the round with a win. Their 2-1 win over Borussia Dortmund saw them safely into the last 16 as group winners with a match to spare and Arsene Wenger’s men are into 20/1 with most firms to win their first Champions League in a season where they were being written off not so long ago.
