Bet365 is a UK-based betting firm that was originally founded back in 2000. It is owned by the Coates family who also own Premier League football club Stoke City with Peter Coates presiding in the role of chairman.
Operating profits for the fiscal year of 2015 increased on a year-by-year basis by 26.5% to £409 million. Revenue also saw an increase by 15% on a year-by-year basis to just under £1.5 billion. It boasts over 21 million customers worldwide across all its offerings. The firm also employs over 3,000 people.
It is a brand that has not been without its controversies. Peter Coates notoriously donated a large sum of money to the ruling Labour government just a short amount of time before the government introduced a more relaxed gambling legislation that benefited companies such as Bet365.
However, these controversies are outweighed by the number of awards the bookmaker has won over the years. The prestigious eGaming Review magazine ranked Bet365 as the number one internet gaming firm for three years in a row between 2010 and 2012. It also won the acclaimed eGaming Review Operator of the Year award in 2010.
Website Design Review
In an age when punters want everything right now the Bet365 website design does its best to offer this with an easy-to-view front page with its proprietary software. It is widely considered to be one of the fastest bookies sites on the market which is a huge reason for the bookmaker being so popular.
The layout of the tabs across the top and the sub-categories down the left hand side ensure that everything is accessible on one screen. When some websites force users to click through several links before reaching their desired page it is refreshing to have a site that puts the majority of pages just one click away.
Bet365 has an organised column-style presentation so even though there is lots of information presented at any one given time, the information is easy to absorb. For example, one column will be the latest odds for events in the In-Play section. The Top Coupons section is also prevalent at the top to keep punters in the loop about which events are most popular at the time.
The colour scheme of the site is also slick. It is in line with the primary colours used by the Bet365 brand of yellow, green, and grey. These colours blend well to give a visual design that is not overbearing or too dull. It allows for the different sections to be easily distinguished without the backgrounds or foregrounds clashing too much.
One phrase that describes the Bet365 website navigation is “easy-to-use”. Everything is laid out in front of the players. The options to access the different sections of the site such as Sports, In-Play, Financials, Casino, Games, Poker, Vegas, and Bingo are clearly displayed across the top of the page at all times.
The sub-headings are then clearly in sight to ensure that the site has total clarity for users. The live streaming, help, odds display, language, and services buttons are all also visible on the top right. It could be argued that the services button could be dissected slightly with it containing the banking, responsible gaming, and promotions sections hidden in there. A more visible promotions link would not only be more beneficial for the website but would also appeal to both new and existing players.
Mobile Betting Reviewed
The mobile betting market is thriving and is experiencing revenue growth every month. Bet365 has been keen to tap into this potential and has thus made it incredibly easy to access their website through a mobile device. In fact, it is a simple transfer of data from the desktop version to the mobile version.
Gone are the days when every betting site required an app to allow players to access its services on a mobile device. Nowadays, all punters need is a mobile device with internet access and they can just type in the website into their mobile search engine as they would do on a desktop device and then mobile version of the website will automatically appear. Of course, apps are still available for those punters that still prefer to access the bookies via that method.
These mobile versions can have more mobile user-friendly functions such as bigger link buttons, larger text, and more concise options so there is less junk to sift through. Bookmakers in particular have understood that betting on the go means players want a quick and convenience way to place a bet so their mobile website has a design that makes quick bets very easy and simple to place.
One pioneering feature that the Bet365 mobile version offers players is the ability to use Touch ID. Apple mobile device users can actually log-in to their Bet365 account by using their finger print which is a quicker and more convenient method than going through the usual entering of details into a couple of small boxes.
Live streaming through the Bet365 website has also improved the reputation of the bookmaker with live steam videos available for a large number of sports including horse racing, football, tennis, snooker, volleyball, beach volleyball and much more.
The cash out function is also something that has developed a huge following. This gives players the opportunity to cash out their bet for a certain amount of money before their bet is settled if they think the outcome they bet on is not likely to happen. This can lead to punters making a profit on their bet even if the outcome they wanted does not happen.
There is also an option for punters to have live match alerts sent to their mobile device. These alerts cover the action from football, tennis, and horse racing events. The football alerts include goals, substitutions, yellow and red cards, penalties awarded and scored or missed, half time and full time results. Horse racing alerts cover race results, non-runners, and abandoned meets. The tennis alerts consist of the start of a match, final score, set results, and match results.
All of these features are available through the Bet365 Extra section. This gives the punters more to get involved with when they are using the website and offers a more in-depth experience to the frequent users.
