Hearts v Tottenham Betting: Goals For Both Teams Likely At Tynecastle

After the civil unrest close to White Hart Lane caused their Premier League opener against Everton to be put back a bit, Tottenham’s first competitive action this season takes them North of the Border for a Europa League play off tie against Hearts. It’s been an ominously quite summer so far on the transfer front where Harry Redknapp looks for once not quite the wheeler dealer he’s been in the past when pulling off eye-catching signings but there is time left in the window for him to pull a rabbit out of the hat. The most notable players leaving White Hart Lane are Jamie O’Hara who has joined Wolves for £5million after spending a successful spell there on loan last season, Robbie Keane has joined LA Galaxy for £3.5 million and Jonathan Woodgate joined up with Stoke on a free transfer. In comes a trio of players very much at either end of the playing spectrum. Redknapp has signed 18 year old Christian Ceballos, a former Barcalona youngster, and 16 year old Soulimayne Coulibaly from Sienna’s youth set up. Brad Friedel has also joined from Villa with the 40 year old providing cover for Heurelho Gomes. Reports are coming through however that Spurs are in talks with Manchester City to bring out of favour Emmanuel Adebayor to White Hart Lane.

Hearts won’t be so rusty though, already having completed four SPL games as well as having to come through an earlier Europa League qualifying round against Hungarian side Paks. It’s been a proper mixed bag for Hearts too, and they’ve even had time to fit in a change of manager since their big kick off at the end of July. It was Hearts’ owner, Lithuanian businessman Vladimir Romanov who saw fit to dispense with Jim Jefferies following their 1-0 home defeat to Dundee United, despite Hearts holding Rangers to a decent 1-1 draw at Ibrox on the opening day. Romanov acted quickly to bring in former Sporting Lisbon manager Paulo Sergio who oversaw their 2nd leg 4-1 win over Paks to send them through, as well as a 1-0 loss at Motherwell and more encouraging 3-0 home win over Aberdeen last weekend.

Had Spurs been in action at the weekend, Harry might’ve rolled a weakened side out at Tynecastle, but as it is I can see him putting out a strong side in what is their first serious match of the season. Spurs were involved in a few goal fests during last season’s Champions League qualification and there’s been little change defensively so they will be prone to leaking a goal or two. Hearts are also unpredictable, but have games under their belts so they could give Spurs a good run for their money. Both teams can score, and both are also not the stoutest defenders so both teams to score looks the way to go.
