Bellew vs McIntosh Betting: Bellew can prevail in the fight dubbed as the 'Big Bang'
Tony Bellew is never shy of a word or two and he has been talking himself up ahead of his British light-heavyweight title defence against Norwich’s Danny McIntosh on Friday night. Bellew fights McIntosh in his home city of Liverpool in the Echo Arena in front of what is expected to be a big crowd and claims he will destroy the Norfolk man after Mcintosh failed to show up for a press conference citing car problems.
Bellew comes into the fight as the 2/9 favourite with Ladbrokes. I think those odds are fair because the ‘Bomber’ is a very good fighter at domestic level and he’s already proved he’s in the world class when he took Nathan Cleverly the distance last time out. He was unlucky not to win that fight but he showed in the two fights against Ovill McKenzie that he can knock people out and box to a gameplan and that bodes well for his future.
Bellew shouldn’t take McIntosh completely lightly because the man from Norwich is a former European champion but he has been stopped twice by lesser punchers than Bellew. He also has 13 wins on his record too however and one of those came against Tony Oakey who is no mean scalp. Only seven of the wins have come inside the distance but McIntosh is capable of letting the punches go when he needs to.
At 32 this is McIntosh’s last chance really to launch himself into the world mix but I don’t see it happening. I think Tony Bellew is a very talented fighter and I would expect him not just to win this fight but to win it with a stoppage and to look good in doing it and force himself into the rematch with Nathan Cleverly category. I’m not sure when the stoppage will come but I do think Bellew’s power will be too much for McIntosh and at some point Bellew will stop the Norfolk fighter.
