ATP Bangkok Betting: Ernests Gulbis can prevail in the capital of Thailand
The ATP tournament in Bangkok has already started, but the main action is still ahead of us and we are certainly in for some outstanding matches this week. The line-up looks really promising, with Andy Murray and Gael Monfils leading the field.
The conditions in Thailand look pretty standard (for a hard court tournament) and I am sure that big hitters will be able to take advantage of that. Meanwhile, guys like Pablo Andujar or Simone Bolelli are probably not going to do especially well. Fabio Fognini, one of the few clay court specialists in the field, is already out of the tournament after his loss against Danai Udomchoke, so that can give us a pretty good idea about the surface.
Ernests Gulbis definitely falls into the category of big hitters and I believe that he will like the conditions. His road to the finals starts against Simone Bolelli (that is actually a great match-up) and then it will be Grigor Dimitrov, who should not be a big obstacle for Gulbis. Andy Murray follows and, if he can get through, it is basically anyone's game after that. And Gulbis would not be the underdog, especially on the back of a great victory.
The Latvian has what it takes to capture the title in Bangkok and I think that he is a little bit overpriced here. Andy Murray deserves to be the favourite, but you probably can't trust him in small tournaments. The Latvian might be known for his erratic performances, but we all know that he is tremendously talented and that he can beat the likes of Andy Murray or Gael Monfils. At this price, I am willing to back him with minimal stakes.
