Zambia vs Ghana Betting: Unfancied Zambia can book a place in Sunday's final

When the African Nations Cup began few people outside of Zambia would have expected their country to be in the semi finals of the tournament but they are and they will play Ghana for a place in the final in the opening semi final of the competition on Wednesday. Zambia came past Sudan in the quarter final but it is Ghana, who beat Tunisia after extra time in the last eight, who are the 19/20 favourites with Bet365.

Zambia coach Herve Renard believes the extra rest his side have had ahead of this semi final will be beneficial to them. Zambia played their quarter final in Bata, the venue for this semi final so they have had no travelling to do and played 30hrs before Ghana finished their semi final. Zambia captain Chris Katongo was on the scoresheet against Sudan in the last round and he’ll be looking to notch again here.

Ghana have laboured into the semi finals and while the potential is there for them to up their game at any minute you would have to say it hasn’t looked like coming so far. Ghana were somewhat fortunate enough to win their quarter final when the Tunisia keeper spilled a cross in extra time making it impossible for Andre Ayew to miss. Asamoah Gyan will be looking to get among the goals to fire Ghana into the final.

I think Zambia could be worth a punt at the prices here. They have played the more attacking football at a better pace throughout the tournament and having disposed of Senegal in the group stages they have played a strong side along the way. Ghana have been in first gear throughout the tournament and if they don’t accelerate into top gear in this match I think they will be turned over.
