Women's 100m Hurdles Betting: Brigitte Foster-Hylton can be the one to push Sally Pearson the closest
The Women’s 100m hurdles begins on Monday morning inside the Olympic Stadium with the Australian Sally Pearson the warm favourite to add the Olympic title to the world title she won in fine style in Daegu last year. Pearson has dominated this sport for a while now and it would be a major surprise if she isn’t the winner of the event. In fact at 1/2 with Stan James it could well be argued she is value to win gold.
Such has been Pearson’s domination of this event this season she has four of the five fastest times in the world this year. Whether she’s running quite as well as she was in the World Championships last year remains to be seen and the fact that she lost to Kellie Wells in the Crystal Palace Diamond League meeting shows that she is beatable and that could give the rest of the field hope.
Great Britain were hoping to go into this event double handed but Jessica Ennis pulled out on Sunday as she is tired from her heptathlon exploits which leaves Tiffany Porter as Britain’s sole representative. Porter was last seen crying her eyes out at Crystal Palace though so I’m in no rush to back her for success. Kellie Wells and Dawn Harper, the defending Olympic champion, look the main dangers to gold for Pearson.
However it could just be that one lady has been forgotten. Jamaican sprinters have already won the men’s and women’s 100 metres and Brigitte Foster-Hylton will be looking for at least a medal in this competition if not actually taking gold. She’s the second fastest athlete in the world this year and has been under 12.70s enough that it is no fluke. The American duo will run well but I see no reason why the Jamaican can’t win a medal in this event.
