Wimbledon 2012 Betting: Novak Djokovic can capture the prestigious trophy once again
Outrights are always a bit tricky when it comes to Grand Slams, as a lot can change throughout the entire event and you need to be extremely careful with your selections. However, you need to be quite brave in betting these days, so I am going to back two players from the men's part of the draw. As always, Pinnacle are offering very competitive pricing, so let's go with them.
Novak Djokovic comes into the event as the main favourite and it is actually really hard to see past him this time. He has not played any tournaments since the French Open, so he might have a fairly slow start, but I can't see him losing in the early rounds and he should pick up some pace later on. His draw is also quite straightforward early on and he really does have a solid edge over the rest of the field these days. He is the world's number one for a very good reason and I would say that he is almost guaranteed to make it to the finals.
My underdog selection then naturally has to come from the second half of the draw. Rafael Nadal is obviously a huge favourite over there, but he has always been rather shaky on grass and the fact that he has no serve makes him really vulnerable. There are many big guys in the second half of the draw, but my money will be on Milos Raonic. That guy has so much raw talent that it is almost unbelievable and I think that he is bound to win a Grand Slam sooner or later. It will be a tough campaign, but Raonic has an ideal playing style for this surface and the fact that he is not going to be under any pressure whatsoever can do wonders for him.
