Wigan vs Hull FC Betting: Hull FC can stay within the handicap against an injury hit Wigan side
Super League leaders Wigan Warriors kick off the weekend of action on Friday night when they host Hull FC at the DW Stadium. Wigan can open up a five point lead on Warrington who play later in the weekend should they win here while Hull will move above the Leeds Rhinos into fifth place in the table if they avoid defeat in this match. Wigan are widely expected to win though and are 1/5 favourites with Stan James.
Wigan go into the game off the back of a big win over Castleford last week which maintained their good position at the top but they have a number of injuries off the back of that. Sean O’Loughlin and Brett Finch are both out while Thomas Leuluai and Pat Richards are long term absentees. Sam Tomkins could well captain the side in the absence of all the big players. Darrell Goulding is another one missing out.
Hull FC picked up a much needed win over Salford last week to back up their win in the Hull derby the week before so they are just building up some momentum again after a bit of an indifferent spell when injuries were biting at their hardest. They are still without some key players such as Danny Tickle and Danny Houghton will have to have a fitness test ahead of this match but Jamie Foster’s arrival on loan has given the Black and Whites a real boost.
I’m not mad enough to suggest that Hull FC will definitely win this match although I do think they have a much better chance than their odds suggest. Wigan will have a few youngsters playing in this match and they will have more than one eye on next week’s important match against Warrington too. Hull FC are no mugs and while they might lack the out and out quality to handle Wigan over 80 minutes they certainly have enough in their ranks to stay within 16pts of them.
