West Indies vs New Zealand 5th ODI Betting: New Zealand can claim some consolation in final match of the series
West Indies secured their ODI series against New Zealand on Saturday when they won the fourth ODI to take a 3-1 lead in the series with one match to play. That match comes along on Monday and once again will be played at Warner Park in St Kitts. There are still two tests to be played after this final ODI so both will be looking to pick up some momentum going into that series.
West Indies will go into the final match in the series as the 1/2 favourite with Ladbrokes. They have dominated the series in large parts apart from a poor batting performance in the third ODI. With the series in the bank it remains to be seen if they will decide to rest some of those players who could play in the test matches. The likes of Chris Gayle are expected to play though to thrill the crowds.
New Zealand will be looking for some batting form to take into the test series. The likes of Martin Guptill and Kane Williamson haven’t really hit their strides on this tour yet so this is a chance for them to do that. BJ Watling looks like he’ll miss this match with the injury that forced him to miss the fourth ODI. Brendon McCullum is expected to get another game leading into the test series.
I think New Zealand are worth trying again here. There’s a lot more for them to get out of this match than the West Indies and they don’t really have the options to rotate and rest their players because they have a lot of injuries. West Indies might get a bit sloppy with the series in the bag and at 7/4 I like the look of New Zealand, who weren’t far away in the last match, here.
