West Indies vs New Zealand 1st ODI Betting: Dwayne Bravo can put in a good performance in series opener

West Indies begin their ODI series with New Zealand on Thursday at one of the more iconic grounds in the West Indies, Sabina Park in Jamaica. There is sure to be a big crowd at the ground for this match to see their hero Chris Gayle who will be on his home ground here. Both sides will be eager to win to take a 1-0 lead in the five match series and it is West Indies who are 2/5 favourites with Ladbrokes.

Sabina Park has a huge history in West Indies cricket. This will be the 32nd ODI to be held on this ground. Of the previous 31, the West Indies have featured in 27 with them winning 19 of those matches and losing just 7 with one no result so it is a good ground for them. New Zealand have played here three times in the past and haven’t won yet.

West Indies look very strong coming into this match, so strong in fact that it looks likely that Andre Russell may not make the side even though this is his home ground. Lendl Simmons looks set to open with Chris Gayle with Dwayne Smith coming in at three in a side which won’t be too different to the ones which played England recently.

Kane Williamson will lead New Zealand in this match and the early part of the series after Ross Taylor got injured in the T20 matches. Jacob Oram was also injured in the T20’s but should be fit to play which will be a boost as the likes of Jesse Ryder, James Franklin and Brendon McCullum weren’t selected for the series. Trent Boult has been added the squad but isn’t expected to play.

West Indies are rightful favourites against a young New Zealand side but the Caribbean boys haven’t yet got to the stage where I’m going to trust them at 2/5. Instead I’ll hit the side markets and the one which I like is Dwayne Bravo’s Performance. His total is set at 46pts on the 1pt/run, 10pts/catch and 20pts/wicket scoring system. I think the line is too low here. We saw him batter 35 off just 11 balls against this attack in the second T20 while he took wickets in both matches as well as catches. Catches are a feature of his cricket while he has 10 wickets in his last 4 ODI’s on this ground. Throw in his quality with the bat too and I think there is more than enough for him to reach 46. In fact he’s capable of doing it with bat or in the field separately so I’m happy to take the overs here.

Back D.Bravo’s Performance – 46pts and over for a 4/10 stake at 1.83 with Bet365
