Wayamba vs Uva Next Betting: Wayamba's powerful top order can have them ahead after the first six overs

The Sri Lankan Premier League resumes on Friday with the action moving on to Pallekele. There are two matches to be played on Friday with the opening match involving two sides who won their opening match when Wayamba United take on Uva Next. The winner of this match will move level with Nagenahira Nagas at the top ahead of their next match later in the day. Wayamba are the 4/6 favourites with Skybet.

That’s no surprise as Wayamba have been the team to beat in Sri Lankan cricket for a while so they will often go into their matches priced short. Tamim Iqbal and Kamran Akmal were the main men for Wayamba in their first match when they hit the biggest score in the Colombo leg of the tournament. Dinesh Chandimal and Mahela Jayawardene are also in the side along with Umar Akmal so Wayamba are well stocked in the batting department but they will need Isuru Udana at his best with the ball.

Uva Next have a much stronger bowling attack than Wayamba with overseas stars such as Jacob Oram, Umar Gul and Andrew McDonald in their ranks alongside Dilhara Fernando who was the hero of their first match taking 5 wickets. Upul Tharanga and Shoaib Malik have the batting talents in the side along with McDonald and captain Thilina Kandamby so they are a good all round side.

We don’t know exactly what to expect from Pallekele as the tournament hasn’t stopped off there yet but in the three international T20 matches that have been played here the first innings score has been over 150 in all of them so the batsmen are a little bit more at home on this ground which you would think will suit Wayamba. I’m no player at 4/6 but with their attacking mite at the top of the order compared to the slightly steadier opening pair of Uva Next’s the 4/5 about Wayamba leading through 6 overs interests me greatly. With a top three of Tamim Iqbal, Kamran Akmal and Umar Akmal Wayamba’s hitting keeps coming and that’s a powerful enough trio to allow me to take Wayamba in the first six over match.
