Warrington vs St Helens Betting: Saints look to be good things with a 10pt head start
Warrington and St Helens met in the semi final of the Super League season last year and Warrington picked up a rare win over Saints on that occasion and they will be looking for similar when the two sides meet at the Halliwell Jones Stadium in round six of the new season on Friday night. Warrington go into this match two points better off than St Helens in the table and they are 1/3 with Coral to win this match.
Warrington Wolves come into this match off the back of a surprise defeat to Hull KR last week. Injuries never helped the Wolves last week as they missed the Monaghan brothers quite badly as well as Lee Briers and Adrian Morley among others. Both Monaghan’s will return for this match and that will be a big boost but the Wolves will be without Trent Waterhouse which won’t be helpful to them.
St Helens are also coming into this match off the back of a defeat. They lost to Leeds last week as injuries hurt them badly too. Lance Hohaia will return for this match which is helpful as he could go and play full back allowing Jonny Lomax back into the halves but more importantly his kicking will be helpful as Saints were very poor in that area of the game last week and if this match is tight it could come down to converting tries.
Matches between these two are nearly always tight but I can’t help but feel that the absence of Trent Waterhouse could be a big one for the Wolves as Saints have a lot of power in their pack in the likes of Puletua, McCarthy-Scarsbrook and Soliola who will be difficult to stop. Whether Saints have the quality to win this match I’m not sure but I don’t expect there to be much more than a score between the sides either way so the 10pt start the visitors get appeals here.
