Vives/Sanchez vs Dellacqua/Stosur Betting: Siding with the Spanish duo should offer some value
My second bet of the day also comes from the doubles section, although I am going to look at the women's part of the draw this time. The Spanish duo of Nuria Llagostera Vives and Maria Jose Martinez is going to be up against Samantha Stosur and Casey Dellacqua and I simply have to give some edge to the Spaniards in this one. Bwin are offering 1.85 for their victory and that looks like value to me.
Look, I simply cannot see what the Australian pair can offer in this contest. Casey Dellacqua is an average tennis player (she is talented, but various injuries have really hindered her progress) in my opinion and Samantha Stosur can be a bit hopeless on grass, so I just cannot see them doing much in this tournament. They have played a few matches together with solid results, but that pales in comparison with the Spanish duo.
In fact, Vives and Martinez are taking their doubles career rather seriously and they have played in plenty of tournaments recently, beating pairs like Peschke/Srebotnik. Such victories must have given them a lot of confidence ahead of this tournament and I would say that this is a good match-up for them. Dellacqua and Stosur will try to blow them off the court, but they can both absorb that power and dominate when it comes to net play.
All in all, I can see some value in backing Vives/Sanchez at this price. After all, they are the much more experienced team of the two and they also had the better results in the preparation period, so they should have the edge today in my opinion.
