Tomic vs Bellucci Betting: Bernard Tomic can do some damage in Stuttgart
My second pick comes from the ATP tournament in Stuttgart. Our pre-tournament favourite, Tommy Haas, will be in action against Pavol Cervenak , but that should be a straightforward affair in all honesty, so I am going to look at the high-profile encounter between Bernard Tomic and Thomaz Bellucci instead. Pinnacle are offering more than 3.50 for the Australian and that might look quite nice, but I am only going to take the handicap line this time.
The thing is, I have not been impressed by Bellucci so far in this season. He is beating average players, but he is not performing when it matters and I think that he will find it hard to cope with Tomic here.
I have seen Bellucci's match against Kern and I could not believe my eyes at times, as the Brazilian was struggling to make inroads against the German wild card. A similar performance simply is not going to be good enough today and even a better one might not see him through in all honesty. Tomic has not been playing well recently and clay is not his favourite surface, but that should fire him up even more and I expect to see a focused effort from him. We all know that he has the right skills, he just needs to put them to a better use.
I do not believe that this is going to be a good match for the spectators and I expect to see plenty of unforced errors from both guys. That leads me to this plus handicap selection. I am not usually taking plus handicaps, but I am not really sure that I can trust Tomic that much at the moment, so the safe selection looks better than the outright win.
