Novak Djokovic took a closer step in his quest to repeat as US Open champion by beating Juan Martin del Potro reach the semi-finals at Flushing Meadows in straight sets. Even though it was a straight set win, it was much closer than the score indicated with both players moving from corner to corner, and from net to baseline but the Serb hit with more power and accurate, was better in defense putting a lot of balls in play but also was stretched as in the end hard breathing was saw at Djokovic. He faces once more a tricky player who can match Djokovic in defense, Spaniard David Ferrer who needed five sets to advance against Janko Tipsarevic. Ferer dictate the pace playing quick and was all over the court catching a lot of balls, the Serb found some rhythm out of nowhere and managed to push Ferrer who lost the momentum in the second set tie-breaker but a match where the Spaniard looked in control, also Ferrer improved a lot on serve aspect making a good impact and played aggressive from time to time moving closer to the net. Ferrer can match the Serbian from the back of the court and will try to tire him down as in a five sets match Ferrer will be the fresher player, Ferrer improved his serve and inside out forehand, he approaches well at the net and gives the impression that can rally day long, some hard breathing for Djokovic against Del Potro. Djokovic is close of another final but we see Ferrer as real threat as has nothing to lose and as the match will went on the conditions will favor him, we will go for over games here.
