In one of his few apparitions on clay in Challenger level, the Irish player James McGee advanced in the main draw through qualifications. His last apparition in the main draw was a year back at also Alphen aan den Rijn as a qualifier where he reached the second round. He beat Van den Honert, Bloemke and Baumann but failed to impress, due to higher bounce he put a lot of balls back in and waited for errors but he played already more then five hours on court. The German is coming after a title in Future on clay in Italy and is better customized with the surface, he also has a lot of points to defend losing the final last year to Igor Sijsling. He is a tough baseliner who can mix well on court appearing at the net to cut off the angles or hit hard from the back of the court, he can hit through McGee’s defense while on serve he will make a better impact. A better preparation on surface for the German and we back him with handicap.
