Reasoning
I don't want to go overboard on Southampton's performance last week at Manchester City as they basically had a couple of shots and were suddenly leading 1-2 at the Etihad before being outgunned.
However, I think they are a decent team that will be a little more positive in their team selection at home against a team they would consider a 'relegation rival' and Southampton should be full of confidence in their own stadium considering the number of solid results they have gained here over the last two seasons.
Wigan are known for their slow starts too, although they actually were impressive against Chelsea last week and it would have been a totally different game if the Latics hadn't slept through the first ten minutes of that game. However, they need to be a little more ruthless in front of goal and I can't help but think their best performances will come after the transfer window shuts.
My reasoning is that Victor Moses, probably their best player, will be more comfortable with his future settled, one way or the other, and the team will be more assured over who is in for the battle and who is no longer at the club.
If Southampton are going to survive this season, this is the kind of game they will expect to win at home and I am going to back them to do so at odds against.
