Reasoning
The odds on the Liverpool win have been coming in all week as the new season approaches and it is a little disappointing that they are now odds-on to win this game, but I do think they are capable of getting the Brendan Rodgers era off to a positive start in this one.
West Brom have had a few internal issues since Steve Clarke took over, but the manager will know all about these players having been an assistant to Kenny Dalglish last season. While he will be able to offer a different insight in their opponents, I still wonder how the players will respond to his management and they were very hit or miss at home (more miss) last season.
Liverpool did finish in the bottom half in terms of goals scored last season, while Rodgers' old club Swansea were in the bottom 5 in that category, and that remains my biggest concern for this side.
However, their record at the Hawthornes is very impressive to say the least and they may take advantage of a West Brom team looking to find their way in the post-Roy Hodgson era.
