First round at the WTA Montreal (Canada, hard) where the german Mona Barthel will meet Timea Babos from Hungary for the first time in her career. I know that Barthel is going through a period in her career where she is finding out for herself when to play the decisive point and when just to play it cool, still she is world number 37 and that is saying many about her. This season she won a title at Hobart, played quarterfinals in Paris and Copenhaga (showing more quality on hardcourt as you can see) and another semifinal at the Bastad clay. On the other side Babos, world number 66 is a promicing player, getting some decent results this season, still with the exception of the Monterrey title (where she beat Carstea, Mayr and Errani), nothing special, even more then that most of her losses this year were against players under her in the rankings but with greater experience in the circuit. Right I don`t believe Babos is a threat for Barthel if the german plays even in "standard mode", unlike the most of the players who beat the hungarian this season (lower in the rankings, better experience), Mona has both of them and last but not least she has talent. I believe this should be won easily by Barthel who has much more experience at this level.
