Round of 16 at the WTA Montreal (Canada, hard) qualifiers and Michelle Larcher de Brito from Portugal will take on Mirjana Lucic from Croatia. Their first meeting is very fresh, actually it was in their previous torunament, at Washington when de Brito won it in three sets, 6-3, 3-6, 6-1. Michelle is now ranked 123rd in the world with best position in her career so far in 2009 when she reached the 76 spot, but never finished a year in the top100. This season she hasn`t done anything special, playing most of his matches in the ITF Circuit, with her best win against Zahlavova Strycova (#62 WTA), in the first qualifying round here at Montreal. Lucic, a bundle of experience, allready 15 years at pro, with her best career ranking in 98' (currently 100th) at singles (32nd) and in doubles (19th). In recent years she had more time playing on clay but still she can turn to her qualities to her advantage like her over the average serve and of course, the forehand with which she can find crazy angles. I believe she can put behind the recent loss against de Brito and with better serving and offensive qualities she can defeat the 1.65 portuguese player who has a modest serve and has to play most of her serving games, the only condition is that the unforced errors count to be low on the croatin side.
