Sri Lanka vs Pakistan 1st Test Betting: Pakistan can make it six consecutive test wins with win in Galle
Sri Lanka host Pakistan in the first test of their three match series in Galle on Friday and with the series only being three matches long both sides will be looking to make a fast start to avoid playing catch up over the rest of the series. Pakistan come into the match having won their last five test matches whereas Sri Lanka have been a lot more patchy. Pakistan are 4/1 with BetVictor to win this test.
The Galle International Stadium is the venue for this match. This will be the 20th test match to be held at this ground with the most recent one being when Sri Lanka played England here in March, a game the hosts won. In total Sri Lanka have won 10 matches here, losing four and drawing five. Pakistan have played here on two occasions and have won once and lost once.
Sri Lanka will bring the likes of Chanaka Welegedera back into the side after he didn’t play in the ODI’s. He will replace Lasith Malinga. The other selection issue for the hosts will be to decide if Thisara Perera or Nuwan Kulasekera takes the second seamer spot. Prasanna Jayawardene will keep wicket in the game and Thilan Samaraweera comes into the batting line up.
Pakistan will be forced into a change from their regular side. Captain Misbah-ul-Haq will be missing from this match after he was banned for a slow over rate in the ODI’s. Mohammad Hafeez will skipper the side in his absence. Abdur Rehman returns in the bowling attack while Taufeeq Umar will partner Hafeez at the top of the order.
Pakistan might just be worth a go in this match. The weather in the lead up in Galle has been pretty good and it is very rare that Sri Lanka take 20 wickets in a match. Pakistan play spin well so you would think Herath’s threat won’t be as strong as it was against England here when he took 12 wickets in the test match. I think Pakistan will go a lot better with the bat in this match with the emphasis on quick scoring not there and the threat of Malinga non-existent. At 4/1 Pakistan look like a good value bet here.
