Southampton vs Coventry Betting: Southampton can seal return to Premier League but not without a few twists
The Npower Championship season concludes on Saturday and there is still one major thing to be decided and that is who will automatically follow Reading into the Premier League. Southampton are in the box seat at the minute and they know if they beat Coventry at St Marys in their final match then they will be a Premier League side next season. Coventry have already been relegated so are playing purely for pride.
Southampton led the Championship for so long but have fallen behind the Reading juggernaut in recent matches but they come into this match as the 1/3 favourites with BetVictor. Southampton will be without midfielder Richard Chaplow in this match as the former England under 21 midfielder picked up an injury in Southampton’s defeat at Middlesbrough last week. Guly do Prado replaced him in that match and he could be the man to replace him in the starting line up in this match.
Coventry come into the match knowing this will be their last game at this level for at least one season and they will be without Richard Keogh after he was sent off in the match against Doncaster last weekend. Andy Thorn could use this match us have a look at a few youngsters ahead of next season but he will also be aware they his side have a big part to play in the promotion race.
Southampton know that they can still be promoted if West Ham fail to beat Hull but they won’t want to let it come down to that. I don’t think this will be as easy as perhaps it looks on paper, it never is when the prize is so big but I do think Southampton will get the job done. I think there will be a few nervy moments along the way but I’ll take them to seal promotion with a win by the odd goal.
