Sheffield Wednesday vs Blackpool Betting: Goals are expected in open FA Cup 4th round replay
League One highflyers Sheffield Wednesday were seconds away from knocking Championship side Blackpool out of the FA Cup at Bloomfield Road 10 days ago but an injury time penalty from Kevin Phillips ensured the Tangerines got a replay which is at Hillsborough, live on ESPN on Tuesday night. Sheffield Wednesday had led through a Clinton Morrison goal before Blackpool’s late leveller forced a replay. A 1-1 scoreline in this replay is 13/2 shot with Coral.
Sheffield Wednesday made a number of changes in the original tie and having changed their side in most cup matches this season I would expect them to do the same here with promotion to the Championship a priority. Three men who definitely won’t feature for the Owls in this match are Miguel Llera, Mike Jones and John Bostock who are all cup tied. Skipper Rob Jones could return from injury although he’s more likely to be saved for league matches.
Blackpool come into this replay unbeaten in all competitions in 2012. They’ve moved up to 4th in the Championship and in with a very good chance of gaining promotion back to the Premier League at the first time of asking. Kevin Phillips has been in excellent scoring form recently and his goals could fire the Tangerines into the fifth round of the cup. Keith Southern could be missing for Blackpool for this game as he’s suffering with an ankle injury.
These two sides are coming into the match in decent form so I expect both to be confident whichever personnel are used. Blackpool games are often high scoring and I see no reason why this will be any different. I can’t see either side wanting extra time so I think this will be a fairly open contest and one which I see containing over 2.5 goals.
