Schiavone vs Pliskova Betting: Francesca Schiavone is not going to fall in the second round
So far, so good. However, I am not going to make any summaries just yet, since there is going to be a lot of time later on and I guess that nobody is interested in that at the moment. Furthermore, we still have some match bets in play from yesterday over at Pinnacle (Tsvetana Pironkova has already covered the handicap, while Alejandro Falla is in a fairly decent position in his match as well).
There is only one match that stands out for me from today's WTA schedule. Francesca Schiavone, one of the most experienced players on the tour, is going to play against Kristyna Pliskova, who is basically a newcomer at this level, and I just cannot see her failing in this match-up.
It is obviously true that the Italian has not been on the top of her game for quite some time now, but her fighting spirit is still there (in Hertogenbosch, she actually managed to win a tie-break after being 0-6 down.) As we all know, women's tennis is a lot about mental endurance and I strongly believe that Pliskova still needs to work on that part of her game.
You might not be familiar with her game, as she is still spending a lot of time on the ITF circuit, so let me just say a few words here. Basically, she is a lot like her sister, Karolina Pliskova. Great serve and big hitting, but no consistency and rather average in longer rallies. This playing style is ideal for grass, but Schiavone will be getting the balls back more often than ITF players and I think that Pliskova is going to start panicking once things start going wrong.
